WATER

What is in YOUR water?

Perhaps a better question would be - "What isn't in your water?"

Water is the universal solvent and it has the ability of dissolving just about anything, Because of this unique property, water can easily become contaminated. Most common complaints are usually odor or staining problems; like those associated with sulfur and iron. However, serious contaminants, such as Lead and e. Coli Bacteria may be TOXIC - affecting your family's health and safety. This is why testing your water and monitoring its' quality annually is so essential. Listed below are four major testing categories that we examine when doing a water test.

Beware if you have lost electric supply!!

How much water can I expect from my well?

We recommend a Well Flow Rate to determine how much water the well is producing.  No one knows how much to anticipate during various times of the year, but with the flow rate you at least have an idea of what the current status is.  HUD/FHA recommends a minimum of 3.5 gallons per minute to serve the typical family of four.

Comprehensive Test

The Comprehensive Test is one of the packages we offer. This package will provide all four categories of testing in water.

These four categories are:

Inorganic (this includes minerals & physical properties)

Organic (petroleum products, gasoline, fuel oils, solvents)

Microbiology (Coliform, e. Coli & other bacteria)

Radiological (radon gas)

This testing package is a good place to start. The Comprehensive Test is a powerful tool in detecting contaminants commonly found in surface water wells and deep well waters. If there is a suspicion of Pesticides or Herbicides used near the water source (many rural areas have such contamination) it may be wise to upgrade to the Comprehensive PLUS Pesticides analysis. The price difference is minimal when considering the side effects of drinking contaminated water.

Annual Monitoring is suggested to ensure the detection of any contamination. After the initial Comprehensive Test, if there are no serious problems, it is customary to monitor the quality to make sure that no changes have occurred. Utilizing the Standard Test yearly is a good way to monitor the water source. IF the initial test indicated high levels of Organic Compounds OR high amounts of Radon Gas were found, we would strongly suggest again testing with the Comprehensive Test to be sure of the contaminant's level in YOUR water.

We also offer an Environmental Scan which includes all the testing of the Comprehensive PLUS Pesticides. In addition it also tests for ten (10) heavy metals, TPH (total petroleum hydrocarbons), MBAS (Methylene Blue Active Substances), O-Phosphorus, T-Phosphorus, PCB (Polychlorinated Biphenyls) and others; a total of 138 parameters! If you are seriously concerned about your water, we sincerely recommend this test.

We know of someone who claimed they had "the sweetest tasting water" until one pet passed away & another pet was experiencing kidney problems at the same time the "man of the house" was having a horrible bout with kidney stones. After doing the Environmental Scan and giving a copy of the results to their physician and veterinarian, the course of treatment was prescribed and the problem was cured. To this day, everyone in the home - including the pets - enjoys the water much better

after installing a new filtering system. As the Doctor asked: "What is "sweet tasting" about H2O?"

Most mortgage companies are only concerned about Coliform & e. Coli bacteria when doing a water test prior to closing a real estate sale. This is very minimal testing and gives you very little information about what is really in your water.  We do suggest further testing, for a slight increase in cost, to protect you and your family.

Please do not jeopardize your health when it can be prevented by testing to see what is in your water.
